Mentor ("we," "our," or "us") is a faith-based discipleship platform built for churches, camps, and schools. We are committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about what we collect and why. This policy explains our data practices in plain language.

We built Mentor to serve communities of faith. We do not sell your data, show you ads, or use your spiritual content to train AI models.

01

Information we collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the Mentor service.

  • Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored as a one-way hash — we cannot read it)
  • Profile information: display name and profile photo you choose to upload
  • Content you create: prayer requests, journal entries, Bible study notes, discussion posts, and messages
  • Relationship data: mentor/mentee connections and church or group memberships you join
  • Usage data: feature interactions and general activity to help us improve the app
  • Device information: browser type and push notification tokens if you enable notifications
02

How we use your information

We use your information solely to operate and improve Mentor.

  • Providing the core discipleship features: prayer, journaling, mentorship, and group tools
  • Sending transactional emails such as password resets and account notifications
  • Delivering push notifications you have opted into
  • Diagnosing technical issues and improving app performance
  • Communicating with you about your account or changes to our service
03

What we don't do

These commitments are foundational to how we operate.

  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party
  • We do not display advertising of any kind inside the app
  • We do not use your prayer requests, journal entries, or messages to train AI systems
  • We do not share your spiritual content with your church organization without your explicit participation
  • We do not retain data after account deletion beyond what is required by law
04

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on servers in the United States. We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed password storage, and access controls that limit who on our team can access production data.

Profile images and uploaded files are stored on Cloudflare R2 with private access controls. We do not make your uploaded files publicly accessible by default.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We take reasonable precautions but cannot guarantee absolute security.

05

Your rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data.

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Deletion: request that we delete your account and associated data
  • Export: request your data in a portable format
  • Opt-out: disable push notifications at any time in your browser or device settings

To exercise any of these rights, email us at help@mentordiscipleship.com. We will respond within 30 days.

06

Children and minors

Mentor is used in camps, schools, and youth ministry contexts. We take the privacy of minors seriously. Accounts for users under 13 must be created by a parent, guardian, or authorized organization administrator. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without verified parental consent.

Organizations using Mentor for youth programs are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent from parents or guardians as required by applicable law, including COPPA.

07

Third-party services

We use a limited number of trusted third-party services to operate Mentor. Each is bound by their own privacy policies.

  • Resend — transactional email delivery
  • Cloudflare — file storage and DNS
  • DigitalOcean — database and server hosting
  • Vercel — frontend hosting

We do not integrate with advertising networks, social media trackers, or data brokers.

08

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our service evolves. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice in the app at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of Mentor after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
